Zak Alhalak and his wife Ghaliya came to the UK three years ago from Syria with their three young children. Zak was an aluminium window maker.
He has worked here in the UK doing a similar job but has started a wonderful business ‘White Gardenia’ which does catering and take away.
As soon as the virus started Zak contacted BRSN, our sister group in Brightlingsea and offered to support elderly or sick people at home with food.
He then took his generosity further and started to contact care homes from Thorrington into Brightlingsea offering food for staff and or residents.
He has taken lots of the delicious food he creates to these homes. Recently one of the Care Homes posted on the local community Facebook page – copy of the post below.
When we asked Zak about it he told us ‘I want to help the community when they need it. They helped us when we needed it. This virus is very bad and people need good food’
