We began offering our Foodbank to our clients back in January this year. Now more than ever, we have seen a huge increase in our Foodbank being used.
Just last week we saw over 30 uses of the foodbank – 15 families – mainly people with no recourse to public funds and unable to work or claim benefits. Generally awaiting home office decisions and the main other group is asylum seekers who have a very small income and cannot afford anything other than basics. Each person is already receiving support to resolve their need for the foodbank but sometimes waits can be long and issues complex.
Many of you have asked if you could drop off donations to our office, so we have put together a list of our much needed items which go very quickly. If you would like to support our Foodbank, we and our clients would be incredibly grateful:
Oil – sunflower, olive or veggie
Tinned fish – tuna, mackerel or sardines in oil or brine please
Veggie pasta sauces
Washing powder or liquid
Juices – tropical, mango, etc.
Tins – tomatoes, kidney beans
Coffee and tea – smaller containers
Sugar – small bags
Rice – preferable basmati or long grain
Pasta – brown or white
Flour – plain
Nappies – especially 5 and 6
Wipes – unscented if possible
Washing up liquid
Toiletries for men and women – toothbrushes and toothpaste
