Help us to help more people feel welcome, safe and dignified.

The people we meet have a wide range of issues – often made all the worse by a history of unthinkably harrowing experiences endured in their own countries or while travelling to the UK.

Getting to know desperate and often completely destitute people, gaining their trust, hearing their stories and ultimately helping them to get to a better place in their lives, in our community, is both a privilege and a frequently difficult and stressful challenge.

RA-C is a volunteer led organisation, so the people we help rely on volunteers to help them to that better place. Our expert caseworkers currently deal with every aspect of every case, but as demand for our services continues to grow we need to free up our caseworkers from some of the simpler tasks that they currently undertake to allow them to spend their time on the tasks that truly require their tenacity, sensitivity and depth of knowledge to really make a difference to people’s lives…

Here are two ways that you can help!

Become one of our office angels…

We’re looking for volunteers to help with the simpler clerical tasks that, while fundamental to every case, take skilled caseworkers away from what they do best.

So, if you’re able to help with general clerical and admin tasks such as

answering the phone
printing and photocopying
filing documents
readying the office for each new day’s work

We’d love to hear from you!

You’ll need basic computer skills and be able to work on your own at times, but as you’d expect we operate a warm and welcoming office environment where any support needed to get you started will be freely given…

We’re not looking for full-time volunteers, if you’d be able to commit as little as couple of hours a week that would be a massive help – if you’re interested please email volunteer@refugeeactioncolchester.org.uk

Help us to do more – for the price of a coffee…

We receive no funding for the work we do – every penny we spend on the things that are essential to providing our services is raised through fundraising and generous donation.  Continually growing demand for our support is stretching our finances to the limit, so we’d really appreciate it if you are able to make a regular donation to help ensure that we can keep delivering our vital services.

We’re not asking for large sums, a regular donation of just £10.00 a month – the equivalent of a cup of coffee a week – would really make a difference and help us to keep helping the people who so desperately need us.

Please use the following bank account details for regular donations…
