My Name is Not Refugee – a powerful exhibition at Firstsite

I am so pleased to confirm that after a number of postponements owing to Covid 19, the exhibition ‘My Name is Not Refugee’ is now showing at Firstsite. It is the latest in the series of exhibitions sponsored by the Arts Council in which the gallery are required to work with a local community group. I have had the privilege to work in this group with fellow volunteers, clients and the curator Emma Howe.

The exhibition opened to the public on Thursday Dec 3rd, and can be visited each day from 10am – 5pm. I hope you can get along to see it and you will see that members of our community have been involved in translations and ideas and we are showcasing the wonderful work of a local Turkish calligrapher.

We hope you enjoy our choice of Arts Council works which we consider fit with our themes of home, memory, beliefs, the environment, journey and communication in a changing world.

Please spread the message to your friends and families and visit the Firstsite website for news of items which will complement the exhibition.
